With Ao Cabo Teatro, Nuno Cardoso continues to look to the classics to understand our concrete lives. In this return to São Luiz, he brings Timon of Athens, by William Shakespeare, a historical play that combines tragedy and comedy and tells us about the economic and social disruption induced by greed, corruption or, simply, by directing the destinies of a community through an economy of favors. Shakespeare’s most ruthless work on misanthropy is a surprising portrait in its contemporary setting.
