By Duncan Macmillan Directed by Luís Araújo
Luís Araújo stages Duncan Macmillan, an English playwright who is still little known in Portugal, in a play that confronts the millennial generation and their concerns head-on. On stage, a couple in their 30s discuss, during a trip to IKEA, the possibility of having a child and what impact this decision will have on them and the world – confronting them and the audience with the imminence of a catastrophe that could have cataclysmic consequences. While not explicitly about climate change, Pulmões talks about a generation that, like the planet, lives in a state of anxiety and economic, social, political and environmental uncertainty.
