About me

Luís Araújo graduated in Acting from ACE. In 2003 he began his professional career working with the Australian playwright Raimondo Cortese (Ranters Theatre) and the Italian company Teatrino clandestino.
As an actor he has collaborated with directors Edgar Pêra, Sofia Arriscado, M.F. Costa e Silva, Vasco Mendes, Emily Wardill, João Rosas, Tiago Guedes (Glória, Restos do Vento and Diálogos Para Depois do Fim), Filipe Melo (Lobo Solitário) and Filipa Amaro (EMÍLIA); with performers Pascal Lièvre, Rodolphe Cintorino and Miguel Bonneville and with directors Nuno Cardoso, António Durães, Fernando Moreira, Ricardo Pais, João Pedro Vaz, Nuno M. Cardoso, Carlos Pimenta, Nuno Carinhas, Gonçalo Amorim, Jacinto Lucas Pires, Tiago Guedes and Mickael Oliveira, among others, presenting his work in Portugal, Spain, France, Cape Verde and Brazil.
In 2007 she conceived and performed her first creative project: “Mostra-me Tu a Minha Cara” (Show Me My Face), based on Heiner Müller’s “Filoctétes”. In 2010 she co-conceived “T3+1” based on short plays by Anton Chekov and in 2012 “Katzelmacher” based on the work of the same name by R.W. Fassbinder. Fassbinder. In 2013 he created and performed “Perspicere”. In 2014, with Gonçalo Amorim and the TUP, he created “Celeste”, winner of the 2015 FATAL prize. In 2015 he adapted, staged and performed “Caridade” from “Fé Caridade Esperança” by Ödön von Horváth and in 2016 he adapted and staged “Subterrâneo – o fim dos fins é não fazer nada” from “Cadernos do Subterrâneo” by Fiódor Dostoievski.
Also in 2016, he was the creator selected by the Union of European Theatres and Creative Europe to represent Portugal in the Creation Masterclass promoted by the UTE, co-produced by the Maly Theatre in Moscow and the Gorky Theatre in Rostov and directed by the director and artistic director of the Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest, Alexandru Darie. In 2017 she created the performance “Feminine/Feminine” as part of MARTE – Visual Arts Exhibition, in 2018 she staged and performed “Pulmões” by Duncan Macmillan and in 2019 “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare, in 2020 she performed and designed the audio-drama TAKE AWAY with text by Bruno dos Reis and in 2021 the sound project “Ruínas”. In 2022 he conceived the site-specific project PLATÔ and in 2023 he wrote and staged “APNEIA” and “Casa dos Pais”.
